Why I began
I kept seeing the same gap.
I have spent more than two decades building companies and helping ideas find an audience. I know how much goes into taking something from an idea to a real product. I also know how many of the tools adults use to do that work were unavailable to a child who was ready to begin.
The example that stayed with me was a lemonade stand. A young founder was doing exactly what we encourage children to do: creating something, offering it to people and learning from the response. Yet the people willing to buy might not even carry cash. The idea was not obsolete. The tools around it were.
At the same time, AI was changing the relationship between ambition and execution. A child could imagine a brand, a product, a service or a digital experience and get meaningful help bringing it to life. That created an opportunity far bigger than a shop builder.
I began developing a thesis about the generation growing up with these capabilities, and I began articulating that mission as The Founder Generation. Not a prediction that every child would open a company. A belief that children should gain the confidence, judgment, practical skills and independence that come from creating something of their own.
Lemonade Lab gives that thesis a practical shape across the web, marketplace, payment app and a shared World. Doreavinea gives it a fable: a city that failed when growth outran responsibility, and a new generation that can make different choices as it rebuilds.
The real measure is what stays with a child after the screen goes dark. If they understand how to begin, how to work with people, how to learn from an attempt and how to make something better, then this work has a reason to exist.
MTV's use of “The Founders” in 2015 is acknowledged in the origin story. The Founder Generation as developed here is Dean Horsfield's distinct modern thesis and practical mission through Lemonade Lab. MTV's research partner used the phrase in 2015, and we acknowledge that history. It is not an exclusive claim to the ordinary word “founder” or an officially defined demographic cohort.
